History

Originally from Corellia, Khulia's family defected to the Empire after the Jedi took her twin sister when the girls were very young, deeming Khulia's connection to the Force too weak. Leaving the Republic and joining the Empire, her father, a captain in the Republic Navy, used his expertise to pass on intel in exchange for asylum.Growing up knowing only Imperial law, and doctrine, and little of her short life in the Core Worlds, Khulia sought a career in the Imperial Reclamation Service, until her Force sensitivity bloomed, and she was directed to the Yavin IV Academy for training.The usually quiet and shy girl quickly learnt what it was to be a Sith, desperately fighting to survive and resisting the constant fear and dread that hounded her. Those emotions became the source of her power, propelling her through the trials with little difficulty and displaying a keen aptitude for the Force. The shy and awkward girl slowly became more vicious and defiant as she passed through the trials, and someone who would barely speak up was challenging Apprentices and staring down Overseers by the time of her Ascension. Her Ascension to Apprentice was overseen by the now Darth Maveth, the High Overseer, who charged her with the recovery of a tablet from a tomb on Korriban. Already having some education in tombs and history, Khulia quickly navigated the complex and overcame it's challenges, even overcoming the threat of rival Acolytes from the Korriban Academy. Despite receiving a grievous wound to her face from a powerful Force Shock, she completed the assigned task and brought the tablet back to Darth Maveth.After passing her trials and being recognized as a Sith, she was taken under the wing of Lord Maladi, a Sith who encouraged her to express herself. She eagerly assisted her Master in her work in the Inquisiton, even making the acquaintance of Maladi's own master; Darth Magistra. Eventually the young Sith realized her own passion for teaching, history and the more esotheric elements of knowledge and power, wanting to uncover the ancient secrets of the Sith and the Force. She began by becoming an Assistant Overseer at the Academy, quickly proving herself more than capable of teaching the new generations of Sith and after her ascension to Lord, with Lord Maladi's blessing, became an Overseer. Around the same time she was accepted into the Imperial Reclamation Service by Curator Maphus, impressing him greatly with her outlook on knowledge and it's value.Becoming a Senior Overseer at the Academy, cemented Khulia's place in the institution. Taking her place in the Force Academy branch, the Lord's appetite for knowledge and power grew, her fervour to learn the more forbidden arts of the Force driving her.Upon the Republic's invasion of Dromund Kaas, the Lord stepped up multiple times to combat the Empire's ancient enemy, while still training new Sith to send out to the frontlines. Doubling down on her harsh and strict training methods, the Lord became more of a drill sergeant than a teacher, and began tearing into Acolytes on a regular basis. Despite the protest of some softer Lords, the newly appointed Force Disciple considered her methods a necessary measure to ensure only the strongest became Sith. The Lord has since come to consider her position as an Overseer to be part of her everlasting duty to the Empire and the Emperor.Taking part in the several key battles during the War, the Lord also contributed greatly to the IAB's Imperial Reclamation Service in recovering many of their escaped ACTs and dangerous Sithspawn. However, her greatest contribution earned her a Silver Spear medal, when she ensured the delivery of ACT 100, Gaia, upon the battlefield of Marr City, a gigantic monster that made short work of the Republic's defences. She was present at the final assault on Admiral Shepherd's fallen flagship, taking part on the strike team that saw the deranged admiral dead, then joining in on the assault that saw the Jedi Master known as the Monk struck down in turn.The war left this woman, who arrived at Yavin IV a meek and shy girl, into a Lord who is quickly gaining prestige and power at an alarming speed. Now, she seeks avenues and opportunities to further her own influence and power, and ensure the majesty of the Empire.The coming months would reinforce Khulia as one of the Academy's most strict and harsh teachers, regularly punishing students for any slight, from etiquette to uniform regulations. Despite the viciousness of her methods, the quality of her teaching was undisputed; her students always excelled. Her accomplishments drew the attention of the Academy's Senior Forcemaster, who approached her with the offer of becoming a Forcemaster, one of the most senior members of the Academy. Khulia, of course, accepted without hesitation.It wasn't long until she finally gained the attention of the High Councillor; Darth Magistra. Becoming a Lord Affiliate to Magistra only elevated her higher in standing in the Empire, and one of her first additions to her power was a brand new Terminus-class Destroyer for the Lord to take command of. Dubbed the I.S.S Silencer, this ship would take part in the defence of Dromund Kaas against the rebel faction known as the Nexus Dominion, dealing a deadly blow against their command structure.Of course, her original passion wasn't neglected. Her work in the Reclamation Service continued, and with her advancement to Archivist, only pushed her further into pursuing her love for archaeology and history. Her attention turned to swaying Apprentices and even some Acolytes towards joining the Reclamation Service, or the Imperial Advancement Bureau in general, with some success. Her superiors in the IRS noticed her efforts, and instead of advancing her to the rank of Chronicler, the Gatekeeper chose to fill a spot in the Reclamation Service that had been vacant for a long time; the position of the second Curator. After been told by Gatekeeper Shahlen to forego her usual manners and etiquette, the new Curator made it clear where her intentions and passions lay; she would continue to pursue her goals and ambitions until she stood at the very top, whether on the shoulders of her peers, or a pile of their bones.Indeed, ambition and cunning are the lifeblood of a Sith. Passion grants strength, but only when tempered with discipline does it become power. So it was that when the Senior Forcemaster; Darth Puritanis, fled the Empire, Lord Khulia arose to take her place, immediately discarding her disgraced predecessor's policy of weak minded leniency. Her authority was imposed without hesitation or exception, and the days of apathy and rot were burned away in the zeal of the new Senior Forcemaster. Despite meddling from rivals and belligerents, Lord Khulia forged ahead with her plans for the Academy.But fate would have other plans. While she had managed to restore the Force Academy to it's former glory, the IRS sought out a new Gatekeeper to take the reins. Her original declaration to rise higher in the ranks of the IRS to Darth Qar'iah did not go unnoticed, and when Darth Althoron rose to the position of Councillor of the Sphere of Scientific Advancement, she was made the new Gatekeeper. Content to hand over the position of Senior Forcemaster to another, she made the necessary arrangements and passed on leadership of the Force Academy to Lord Nyxara; one of her most capable Forcemasters.

Personaility

As a new arrival to the Yavin IV Academy, Khulia was unremarkable, meek and non-disruptive. Her aptitude for the Force and philosophy were apparent however, and her understanding of the Sith tenants and values shifted very little in her time at the Academy, confident in what they meant to her. While her ascension was the greatest struggle she faced at the Academy, she only saw it as one more chain to break.Upon becoming an Apprentice and recognized as a full fledged Sith, it was apparent she'd come into her own. No longer considered a piece of meat by her peers, she let her personality flourish, emboldened by her newfound power. What was once a meek and ever eager-to-please young girl came out as a cruel and vindictive woman, with a warped sense of humour and zeal to see the Sith claim their rightful place in the galaxy. Her temper and penchant for cruelty towards the Academy's Acolytes has earned her a hated reputation among the student body, one she relishes in, believing that fostering hatred and anger in her students will strengthen their bond to the Dark Side.Her Lordship saw Khulia grow in infamy and notoriety in the Sith Order. Her presence causing many lesser Sith and even some peers to become uncomfortable just from her gaze alone. Her sadistic tendencies have been seemingly curbed to the unobservant, instead coming to favouring more subtle methods of manipulation and torment, with the occasional burst of her signature brand of anger reserved for Acolytes of the Academy.

While favouring a much lighter attire in her day to day duties, consisting of wrappings and robes, during battle the Sith Lord favours a heavy suit of armour plate. Despite it's cumbersome nature, the plate armour has adequately protected the Lord on multiple occasions. The hinderance of her movement is of little concern to her, as she favours a more ranged and destructive mode of combat. The armour serves to protect her from anyone who has managed to break through whatever bodies she has placed between them and herself.
